Tigers Blast Royals 19-4 posted on 07/22/2008
The Detroit Tigers did their best Kimbo Slice impersonation Monday night when they manhandled the Kansas City Royals 19-4 in Kansas City. The Tigers used a 10 run eighth to propel themselves to their third 19 run game of the season. According to Elias Sports Bureau that last team to do that was the 1950 Boston Red Sox. The team that was projected to score close to 1000 runs at the beginning of the season is starting to come into form. And that should be a scary thing for not just teams in the AL Central, but for the entire league. Miguel Cabrera went 5-6 with 6 RBI's while Matt Joyce was just a double away from a cycle going 4-6 with 5 RBI's. All this damage came at the hands of a team who had dominated the Tigers in their previous encounters earlier in the season. The Royals entered this game with a 6-0 record against Detroit in the 08 campaign. Also the Tigers did this with arguably their best hitter Magglio Ordonez out of the lineup. On the pitching side of things the Tigers got an incredible start from Zach Miner. He was making his first major league start since April 2007. Sandwiched in between those two starts were 32 relief appearances. Zach threw 6 shutout innings giving up 3 hits and one walk while striking out another. He gave a sleek start that should give confidence to the Tigers organization that they have finally found their guy to be the fifth starter in the rotation. The number one overall pick in the 2006 draft Luke Hochevar started the game for the Royals giving up 8 hits and 7 earned runs in 5 innings. Believe it or not he did not have the worst line of the game for the Kansas City pitching staff. That belonged to Jimmy Gobble who walked 4, gave up 7 hits and 10 earned runs in just one inning! It was a night that he would soon like to forget.

British hopes forge on posted on 07/10/2008
Not many things in our modern society can capture the dream and imagination of an entire nation like the power of sports. Andy Murray is a 21 year old tennis phenom from Great Britain. He captured the entire of Britain's dream by completing a miraculous comeback in the round of 16 at the Wimbledon tennis championships. He forged on to the quarterfinals where he ended up losing to the eventual champion Rafael Nadal. However this did thrust his career to a new level and it kept the British hopes alive of having a British Wimbledon champion sometime in the future. The feat of having a British Wimbledon champion has not been achieved since 1936. The whole country has been patiently waiting through various other British born tennis players in hopes of seeing one of their own capture the trophy. Like Chicago Cubs fans, the Brits have been through many emotional roller coasters such as the years in which Tim Henman carried the dreams of the nation. Tim was a four time semifinalist at Wimbledon but due to Tim either blowing leads or having inconvenient weather delays (It's London, what else would you expect?) he was never able to break through. In a world so devastated by a declining environment and cultural differences, Andy Murray looks ready to distract the people from those problems and is poised to capture the dreams of a nation.

Tigers 8 Indians 6....What a Thriller! posted on 07/10/2008
"And no ones gonna save you from the beast about strike you know its thriller, thriller night". Those are the words sung by yes the crazy man himself Micheal Jackson in his hit song Thriller but oh how they pertain to the Tigers game Wednesday night. Nobody out of the Indians bullpen was ready to save the team from the beast of a lineup that was about strike. The thrilling game was concluded with Indian reliever Jensen Lewis giving up a walk-off two run home run to the striking beast Miguel Cabrera. But seriously enough with the Micheal Jackson analogy, what a game! The Tigers came back from a 6-0 deficit and when things looked as grim as the monster in Cloverfield they strung hits together like the lineup was
