Birth of a new Tigers blog

I have been thinking about creating a sports blog for some time.  Specifically a baseball blog, preferably one that covers the Detroit Tigers.  Writing about baseball is something I am meant to do.  I grew up watching Tiger's baseball in 1977, so while I suffered through the 1970's I was spoiled with the 1980's.  The Detroit Tigers were one of the most successful baseball teams during that decade.  I have followed them during my childhood through the good and bad times and have always enjoyed them.

The Detroit Tigers and baseball has a deeper meaning than me being just a casual fan.  I wanted to play baseball as a young boy growing up on the west side of Detroit.  My friends and I pretended to be Parrish, Whitaker, Trammell, and Gibson.  We wanted to pitch complete games much like Jack Morris once did, and we wanted to close games like John Hiller, and Willie Hernandez.  Most of all we wanted to become a Detroit Tiger playing for our hometown.

When that dream didn't come true I have always followed the Tigers and have been opinionated about the organization.  I have praised and criticized their play.  I have dreamt up trades, and free agent signings.  When the team was bad I always knew how to make them better (At least in my head I knew how).  When they were good I had ideas to make them a baseball dynasty.

That's what I hope to make this blog.  It will be a blog talking about actual stories about the Detroit Tigers but also one that shares opinions about the team.  How it is doing, how I think they'll finish, and trades that should be made.  Finally I hope to get people to enjoy the blog and share their opinions with me.  This will be a fun, challenging topic to write about.  Enjoy!

Keywords: Alan Trammell, Detroit Tigers, Lance Parrish, Lou Whitaker
