		<description><![CDATA[<p>I have been thinking about creating a sports blog for some time.&nbsp; Specifically a baseball blog, preferably one that covers the Detroit Tigers.&nbsp; Writing about baseball is something I am meant to do.&nbsp; I grew up watching Tiger's baseball in 1977, so while I suffered through the 1970's I was spoiled with the 1980's.&nbsp; The Detroit Tigers were one of the most successful baseball&nbsp;teams during that decade.&nbsp; I have followed them during my childhood through the good and bad times and have always enjoyed them.</p><p>The Detroit Tigers and baseball has a deeper meaning than me being just&nbsp;a casual fan.&nbsp; I wanted to play baseball as a young boy growing up on the west side of Detroit.&nbsp; My friends and I pretended to be Parrish, Whitaker, Trammell, and Gibson.&nbsp; We wanted to pitch complete games much like Jack Morris once did, and we wanted to close games like John Hiller, and Willie Hernandez.&nbsp; Most of all we wanted to become a Detroit Tiger playing for our hometown.&nbsp; </p><p><a href="http://www.detroittigersnews.com/chwrob/weblog/7049/birth-of-a-new-tigers-blog.html">Continue reading "Birth of a new Tigers blog"</a></p>]]></description>
