Week In Review (4/6 to 4/13) posted on 04/14/2009

Boy, was I excited after a harsh winter to see baseball start. With Edwin Jackson as part as are rotation, it is going to be exciting to see all the Tigers can provide. And the hopes that the 2009 season will not be a 2008 repeat.

Monday 4/6

Verlander got his start, but as you may of known, it sure as hell wasn't a good one. Three and two-thirds innings with eight earned runs? I'm thinking Nuke LaLoosh at the start of the season in Bull Durham. A good line in this balance sheet was that our very first hit (sadly in the fourth inning), was a Home Run by none other than our Goodwill Ambassador Curtis Granderson. My personal favorite Brandon Inge got himself a Home Run himself with two RBIs attached to it. But the Blue Jays kicked our rear ends in, eh? Lind, their aspiring DH was responsible for half of the runs knocked in for that game with six. It was also some rather interesting baseball when the Toronto fans at Left Field were throwing things on the field. Thus, having Leyland take the players off the field for Ten to Fifteen minutes. Predicting the 2009 season with my crystal ball! posted on 03/19/2009

How about this? My very first article by the smart-assed blogger who has a vivid interest in the Detroit Tigers. It’s now spring training, I, for one, am excited to see the snow melt (it will come back to Michigan, it snows till April here) and see the tigers kick some tail in Florida (somewhere I wish I was at right now). So, for my first entry, this smart-ass blogger wanted to give an analysis for some of our players. Here goes:

Magglio Ordonez – He was the person who hit the ball out of the field against the Oakland A’s in 06 to lead us to the World Series. When we had our share of troubles after the 07 all-star break, Magglio remained supreme with the best batting average in the AL. Although the team dropped to the cellar in the AL Central last season, Maggs kept his Batting Average over .300, knocking over 21 homers, in which I expected more, and getting 103 RBIs. Maggs does have life in that Thirty-Six year-old body to hit good production numbers. You’ll see more of the same with Maggs in the batting average category, I’ll stand by that. Just don’t expect him to hit more than 23 home runs.
